Answer: Cultural barriers is when people of different cultures are unable to understand each other’s customs, resulting in inconveniences and difficulties.

People sometimes make stereotypical assumptions about others based on their cultural background, this leads to difference in opinions and can be a major barrier to effective communication.

7.    Explain any two misconceptions about entrepreneurship.

Answer: Misconceptions about Entrepreneurship are

(a)   The misconception is that every business idea needs to be unique or special.

The businesses are common businesses that we see every day. But, each entrepreneur saw customer demand and brought a new idea into their business. A person can take an idea that is already there in the market and do something different with it.

(b)  The misconception we have is that a person needs a lot of money to start a business.

The money used to start a business is called capital. Capital is important for starting. However, every business does not need a lot of capital to start. Depending on how much money you have or can borrow, you can start a business with that much money. Once you make more money, you can put that into your business to make it bigger.

8.    Briefly discuss the significance of time management skills in order to succeed in life.

Answer: Time management is the ability to plan and control how you spend the hours of your day well and do all that you want to do.

Significance:
Time management is the thinking skill that helps you to

  • complete tasks on time.
  • make a daily timetable.
  • make a good guess at how long it will take you to do something.

9.   Very often we hear about spam mails. Explain what are spam mails, and what should be done with such mails.

Answer: Sometimes we get mails from companies who are advertising a product or trying to attract you to their website. Such mails are called SPAM.

We should never respond to SPAM and delete it on a regular basis. We can set a filter to send all such spam in spam folder.

10.   Mention any two ways to get clean and affordable energy.

Answer: Two ways to get clean and affordable energy are

  • (a)   Using solar power i.e., power generated using the sun does not cause pollution as it does not require the burning of non-renewable fuels, such as coal.
  • (b)  Use of biogas is also an eco-friendly alternative to natural gas.

11.   Write the main steps to group drawing objects in Writer.

Answer: To group drawing objects:

  • 1. Select one object, then hold down the Shift key and select the others you want to include in the group. The bounding box expands to include all the selected objects.
  • 2. With the objects selected, hover the mouse pointer over one of the objects and choose Format > Group > Group from the menu bar or right-click and choose Group > Group from the pop-up menu.

12.   What is the purpose of consolidating data in spreadsheets? Discuss briefly.

Answer: The main purpose of Data Consolidation is to gather your data together from separate worksheets into a master worksheet.

In other words, the Data Consolidation function takes data from a series of worksheets or workbooks and summaries it into a single worksheet that you can update easily.

13.   Differentiate between LAN and WAN.

Answer: The difference between LAN and WAN

  • LOCAL AREA NETWORK
    • A local area network (LAN) is one which connects computers and devices in a limited geographical area such as home, school, computer laboratory, office building, or closely positioned group of buildings.
    • Usually, local area networks offer very high speeds and are used for connecting computers and peripherals such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • WIDE AREA NETWORK
    • A wide area network (WAN) is one which covers a broad area (i.e., any network that links across metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries).
      The Internet is the most popular WAN, and is used by businesses, governments, non-profit organizations, individual consumers, artists, entertainers, and many others.

14.   What are the two parts of a cell reference while referencing data on other sheets? Explain with an example.

Answer: While referencing data on other sheets, the cell reference has two parts:

  • the sheet name (’Checking Account’) and
  • the cell reference (F3).

For example:

=’Savings Account’.F3.

Saving Account is the name of the sheet and F3 is the cell address which value we want to access.

Note that they are separated by a period.

15.   Give any two benefits of creating relationships between tables in a database.

Answer: A relationship refers to an association or connection between two or more tables. When you relate two tables, you don’t need to enter the same data in separate tables.

Benefits of creating Relationships between tables in a database:
 (a) Save time as there is no need to enter the same data in separate tables.
 (b) Reduce data-entry errors.
 (c) Summarize data from related tables.

16.  Mention any two basic fire safety rules to be followed in any organization.

Answer: A mail merge is a way to take a letter you’ve written and send it to a whole bunch of people, personalizing it with information about them so they might think that you typed that letter personally for them.

A mail merge can also be a quick way to take a list of people’s mailing addresses and generate labels or envelopes with the address for a different person on each label or envelope.

The advantages of Mail Merge are as follows:

  • 1.   The Mail Merge feature makes it easy to send the same letter to a large number of people.
  • 2.    By using Mail Merge, we don’t have to type each recipient’s name separately in each letter.
  • 3.   We need to proofread only the main document.
  • 4.  It is economical and saves a lot of time.
  • 5.   It is one of the fastest ways to produce hundreds of personalised letters.
  • 6.   It is easy to edit the letter as a single change made in the main letter will be reflected in the letters meant for all other recipients.

18.    Explain four types of hyperlinks that can be applied in spreadsheets.

Answer: Four types of hyperlinks:

  • Internet: the hyperlink points to a web address, normally starting with http://
  • Mail & News: the hyperlink opens an email message that is pre-addressed to a particular recipient.
  • Document: the hyperlink points to a place in either the current worksheet or another existing worksheet.
  • New document: the hyperlink creates a new worksheet.

Answer:

(a) Database: A database is an organized collection of data. You can visualize it as a container of information.

(b) Table: A table is a set of data elements (values) that is organized using a model of vertical columns (which are identified by their name) and horizontal rows. A table has a defined number of columns but can have any number of rows.

(c) Field: A column is a set of data values of a particular simple type, one for each row of the table. The columns provide the structure according to which the rows are composed. For example, cFirstName, or cLastName are fields in a row.

(d) Composite Primary Key: When primary key constraint is applied on one or more columns then it is known as Composite Primary Key.
